Deepwater horizon may be leaking oil

The USCG announced Tuesday that it is working with Transocean, Ltd. to determine if the wreckage of the Deepwater Horizon rig is the source of oil sheens that have appeared in the Gulf of Mexico.  “The responsible party may be financially accountable for debris removal costs and damages resulting from the pollution incident,” the Coast Guard said.

A spokesman for Transocean confirmed that they had been contacted by the USCG and were “committed” to investigating the report.

DNR to Host Rockfish Regulation Open Houses

Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host two open houses to allow interested parties and the public the opportunity to comment on proposed changes affecting the state’s commercial striped bass fishery.  The open houses will be held:

The public comment period runs through October 24.  Final administrative and regulatory changes are scheduled to go into effect on on November 28, 2011.
