Accused Maersk Alabama Pirate Indicted

Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse, one of the Somali pirates accused of hijacking the Maersk Alabama has been indicted on 10 counts. The charges are: piracy, possession of a machine gun while seizing a ship by force, hostage-taking, conspiracy to commit hostage-taking, possession of a machine gun during hostage-taking, kidnapping, conspiracy to commit kidnapping and possession of a machine gun during kidnapping.
Muse is to be arraigned on Thursday in Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York. Eight of the ten counts carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
